Pastor Indicted for Buying Mercedes With CARES Act Funds

Pastor Mack Devon Knight, 45

45 year old Pastor Mack Knight was indicted on five counts by a grand jury in the southern district of Georgia.

Among other things, Pastor Knight is accused of submitting fraudulent information to the SBA in order to receive an Economic Injury Disaster Loan.

Knight, who also claims to be a mortician, tax preparer and restauranteur could face up to 30 years in prison if convicted.

Allegedly, Knight fraudulently represented his businesses, “Daddy earl’s Kitchen” and “Knight’s Tax Services” in falsified bank documents. He also claimed that the businesses made hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenue prior to the covid 19 pandemic.

Knight received about $150,000 for one of the businesses and reportedly used a portion of that money to buy a Mercedes Benz S Class.

“Funding from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Security (CARES) Act was provided to help small businesses survive pandemic-related losses,” Acting U.S. Attorney David H. Estes said in the release. “In coordination with our law enforcement partners, we will hold accountable those unscrupulous actors who attempt to swindle these funds for their own enrichment.”
